Hello everyone! So I’ve been going through some ideas in my head for Halloween costumes for this year. I don’t usually dress up; I find most costumes to be a bit…revealing…these days, and I’m not always creative enough to make my own. But this year my family is throwing a Halloween party, so there’s no way I could refuse!
I’ve decided to look into some bookish ideas, most likely ones with movie/tv adaptations to really give me a defined and recognizable look. So I thought I would share my ideas with you and get your input and opinions to help me decide!
Coraline Jones (Coraline)
Tim Burton’s take on Neil Gaiman’s Coraline was certainly my first pick this year. It seems super easy to execute: blue wig, rain coat, rain boots, and dragonfly clip. Plus I love her sass and bravery, which means I wouldn’t mind explaining my costume to those who haven’t heard of Coraline Jones.
Alex (A Clockwork Orange)
Honestly, I think I just love the simplistic yet exaggerated style that a female Alex could have. My hair is pretty short, so I feel like I could make it feminine while holding true to the film (male) version of Alex. All I would need is a ton of white, a cane and black hat, and some false lashes. Again, simple enough to recreate.
Annabeth Chase (Percy Jackson)
I already own a Camp Half-blood shirt, so really all I might need for this costume is a NY hat, a Camp Half-blood necklace, and some sort of fake dagger. Maybe I can even get boyfriend to be my Percy Jackson.
Lila Bard (A Darker Shade of Magic)
I know, I know, I said that there would be some tv/movie adaptation of the character…but who could turn down the opportunity to be one of their favorite characters?? Not me. Lila Bard is my spirit animal, and I love her. So I am totally putting her on my possibilities list!
What character do you think I should be for Halloween? Do you have any other ideas? What are you going to be for Halloween?
