Goodbye May, Hello June

Well June has arrived in a blazing heat wave. It’s summer time, half way through the year, and time for another monthly wrap up. Time is seriously flying by and I don’t think I mind it much, I prefer the second half of the year anyway.

This month was a bit chaotic on my end. My current classes are in the process of ending, which means final papers were due. But, in just a short week I get to actually start my writing classes, so I’m super excited to finally get going on what I am in school for.

I failed so very miserably at the book buying ban I put myself on last month, as you will later see in my haul list. I think I will give up on banning myself from buying books until it’s actually necessary. Yes, it would probably give me more money to put towards important things like bills, but adulting is hard and I deserve my breaks from caring about money and should be allowed to buy books to keep myself sane.

Wrap Up (1)

So I didn’t get to read nearly as much as I wanted to. I discovered the gloriousness that is Kindle Unlimited and WhisperSync and ended up falling into a series I didn’t plan to begin. I probably would have read more if I could stand the narration in ACOTAR and ACOMAF, but that narrator makes me cringe. So I’m taking so much longer than I wanted.

Processed with VSCO with q3 presetMay Reads:

  • A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
  • Angelfall by Susan Ee
  • World After by Susan Ee
  • This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp

I really wanted to get through A Court of Mist and Fury, but I’m only like 150 pages in now. I have a ways to go. I did love A Court of Thorns and Roses. But not nearly as much as The Throne of Glass series. There’s just too much sex for me to like really truly deeply love this series. But SJMaas will always be my queen.

Wrap Up (2)

Like I said, I was so terribly bad at my book buying ban. Like, horrible. But honestly, that’s what happens when Book Outlet has a major sale.

  1. I am really excited to read A Court of Thorns and Roses sometime this Summer, inshAllah (if God wills)! I’ve heard so much praise about it. I’ve already read a few books from the Throne of Glass series, and I quite like it. And uhm, Ashley, haul small much? xD Jk jk, I know how it is.

    1. I really love Throne of Glass. It’s just such a fantastic series. Maas is a great story teller, and I would probably love ACOTAR so much more if it was less sexually graphic. I’m such a baby about that kind of stuff. Haha. But if that stuff doesn’t bother you, then it’s amazing. She is such a great character builder/ developer.
