“They were never scared of the kids who might die, or the empty spaces they would leave behind. They were afraid of us-the ones who lived.”

“I feel like I’m losing my damn mind, like your face has been carved into my heart, and I don’t remember when, and I don’t understand why, but the scar is there, and I can’t get it to heal. It won’t go. I can’t make it fade. And you won’t even look at me.”

My Rating: 4.8/5

“We used our minds like weapons clenched tightly in our fists, struggling to return them back to their holsters without injuring ourselves in the process.”

When a disease wipes out most of America’s children, it’s the survivors that send the country into a panic. Developing unusual abilities, the children are hoarded into terrifying work camps, cut off from their lives.

But Ruby escapes, her abilities uncontrollable and unclear to even herself. And now, with a group of kids who escaped from their own camp, she’s on the run from the government that wants to catch her, the organization that wants to employ her, and the skip tracers that wouldn’t mind killing her.

The Darkest Minds trilogy is a HIGHLY recommended series by me. It’s got all the good stuff: friendship, a solid love story, thrilling car (van) chases, conspiring organizations and an untrustworthy government, and teens with telekinesis powers; all tied up with a very satisfying ending.

I don’t want to give too much away, but if you haven’t picked the first book up yet, do it! Like now! Oh, and Liam Stewart is like a dream come true. *swoon*

You can preorder the bind-up edition of the three novellas, Through the Dark, on Amazon, releasing on October 6, 2015.
