My First Owlcrate Unboxing!

This month I received my first Owlcrate subscription box, which is so exciting! If you are in the bookish community, then Owlcrate has probably crossed your path a couple hundred times.

But in case you aren’t aware, Owlcrate is a monthly subscription box geared towards lovers of Young Adult, and it’s amazing!

Each month you receive a newly released Young Adult book and bookish gifts based around a specific theme.

The May box theme is Parallel Worlds, and here’s a peak inside:

– Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley, with Mogonia bookmark and signed book-plate.

– E.E. Cummings quote notebook by Obvious State.

– Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland temporary tattoos by GeekTat.

– Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty.

Other than the book, I’m going to admit that my favorite part of this box is the Thinking Putty. It stretches, bounces, and even changes colors based on temperature. It’s a great stress reliever and I’ve already played with it tons in the last day.

As a lover of notebooks and beautiful quotes, the Obvious State notebook will go straight into my purse. Along with the notebook they also give Owlcrate subscribers a code for 30% off on their site for a limited time. I’ll definitely be using both the notebook and the code, since they have amazing totes on their site.

I think the temporary tattoos are really cool, but as a 23-year-old, I probably won’t find a time to use them. But I have plenty of kids in my life that will enjoy them. GeekTat is an Etsy shop that has quite a few different designs. And hey, maybe you want a geeky tattoo and want to test it out first. You can request a custom design from them as well.

Lastly, is the new release Young Adult novel by Maria Dahvana Headley. Goodreads says its “Neil Gaiman’s Stardust meets John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars in this fantasy about a girl caught between two worlds… two races…and two destinies.” I love fantasy, I love parallel worlds, and I love beautiful covers. I think this is going to be a fantastic read.

They also sent a Magonia bookmark and a signed book-plate (woo!).

Overall, my first Owlcrate was highly satisfying. It feels special and handpicked, and not only do you get a great deal for your money, you also get introduced to new bookish products and companies.

The June box is available for new subscribers on May 26th at 8:00 PST/ 11:00 EST. Be ready to subscribe, because last month this boxes sold in like 15 minutes, so be prepared.
